The first snow is always like this - the grass is white and the roads are clear. The streets are still retaining heat from the summer and fall, and once freezing temperature becomes predominant, then the roads will become covered as well.
The first time you wake up to six inches covering everything, it will be quite a sight.
Thanks for the comments, Larry and Barbara. I don't know if I will see that 6 inches, since we are leaving on Saturday. They are calling for snow this afternoon (Wed.), and though the clouds look ominous, it somehow doesn't seem cold enough!
Anyway, there's the possibility of the Dakotas in January ...

Just a dusting, but it is a start. When snow falls, it is like a new creation -- all appears fresh and innocent again. At least for a while.
